TOPIC:
Bridging the Gap Between Clinical Rehabilitation and Performance Training

INSTRUCTOR:
Timia Crawford, PT, DPT, XPS

DATE:
Sunday, March 29th

TIME:
4 - 6 pm EST

DESCRIPTION:
Foundational movements form the basis of nearly all human activity, yet many patients lack the joint mobility, tissue adaptability, and motor control required to perform these movements with efficiency and resilience. Limitations in global joint motion, reduced exposure to varied ranges of motion, impaired tendon and tissue capacity, altered breathing strategies, and insufficient movement variability often lead to compensatory patterns that precede pain, injury, or recurrent dysfunction.
This evidence-based course focuses on teaching and restoring foundational movement through a comprehensive, whole-body lens. Participants will examine essential movement patterns while learning to identify underlying contributors such as multi-joint mobility restrictions, deficits in core control and coordination, altered load tolerance, and inefficient breathing and bracing strategies.
Through current research, clinical examples, and guided discussion, PTs and PTAs will develop practical frameworks to assess movement quality, differentiate between mobility, motor control, and tissue capacity limitations, and recognize early risk factors that may limit performance or predispose individuals to injury. The course highlights the role of movement variability and progressive exposure in improving resilience and preparing individuals for the physical demands of daily life, sport, and long-term health.
Participants will leave with immediately applicable assessment and intervention strategies that bridge traditional rehabilitation and movement training. Concepts can be integrated across orthopedic, sports, pelvic health, and general outpatient settings, reinforcing the clinician’s role as a movement educator who prepares individuals not only to recover from injury, but to move with confidence, efficiency, and adaptability.
