UPCOMING WEBINAR

TOPIC:

Clinical Neuroanatomy of the Corticospinal Tract for Rehabilitation Therapy Practitioners

INSTRUCTOR:

Jennifaye V. Brown, PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS, CAPS

DATE:

Saturday, March 2nd

TIME:

9 - 10:30am EST

DESCRIPTION:

Do you wonder where the time goes during the examination, and you did not assess an impairment critical to a person's diagnosis and ability to function? Would knowing lesion site and the affected anatomical structures clue you into performing key assessments and prioritizing treatment
interventions?

If so, individuals with neurologic impairment would have a better-developed and precise plan of care to address impairments, thus leading to a restoration of movement or compensation strategy to safely function in the environment.

This course reviews neuroanatomy of the corticospinal tract with its origin in the cerebrum, contributions from the cerebellum and its course of travel to the spinal cord resulting impairments if lesioned in various areas. Video, pictorial, and or written case studies are used to apply knowledge of neuroanatomy, lesions and subsequent impairments. Definitions of primary and secondary impairments as well as restorative, compensatory, and preventative interventions and social determinants of health are discussed to prepare the participant to prioritize impairments and create a person-centered plan of care.
